I'm 67,814 secs stranger than most, thanks to my sister Blanche.

^ I can see why you changed your name to Stella! Can you imagine Marlon Brando standing in the street howling "SWAMPYSOX!!!"?

I love this thread. It's quite entertaining. Incidentally, I took someone's suggestion and went to youtube to see bansaisequioa's videos of his quick solves. That was enlightening and helpful.
BrainCellKeeper, I definitely have seen your incredulous comments about fast solving times! I was delighted to notice that at some point you seemed to discover that they are for real. (Most of us doubted the super-fast record times at first; the videos really do help.) When I saw that you posted your own 25-second solve time, on New Year's Eve no less, I was genuinely happy for you. Congratulations on sticking with it and breaking through!

I wonder what a conversation between this guy and Yogi Berra would sound like?

bansaisequoia on 2012-10-16 14:58:17
Hey, D.H., let's take a look in the old pic-a-nic basket.

Gives you something to think about. Very deep.

universalmom on 2014-05-29 02:09:49
Folly, illusion, deception and ignorance are our starting points - the fascinating thing about life is figuring out how to move beyond them.

montyb on 2014-06-06 08:38:02
Folly, illusion, deception is my golf game.

JD_1947 on 2015-01-05 07:16:10
. . folly . . I always liked that word . . .

marnita on 2015-09-25 07:53:02
Folly - a good name for a cat.

LLapp on 2015-09-26 17:35:22
Deck the halls with boughs of folly.

darkyr on 2017-06-02 08:47:27
It's a good set of names for four cats. Perhaps four mutant teenage ninja cats, who, in a fit of instinct, ate the wise master rat who sought to teach them.

Oh god, I'll never get this puzzle!

LLapp on 2014-09-28 16:26:53
Error: Please add comma after "success."

LLapp on 2016-08-16 08:03:44
Again: Please add the comma! It would signal that the word after it is "if" and not "of". Its absence threw me off into "of" again.

LLapp on 2017-07-13 16:41:55
Well, here I am again, no thanks to that missing comma.

LLapp on 2017-10-10 11:23:15
I think we can all agree that the comma problem is preventing me from ever solving this puzzle.

marnita on 2018-03-21 13:39:43
No, LLapp, it's your fear of failure.

Default I would pay to read a whole thread between these two

"For most folks, no news is good news - for the press, good news is not news." Gloria Borger

WRQ9 on 2013-11-24 10:14:30
How does good news compare, in either usefulness or gravity, to bad news? I'm so tired of this redundant sentiment. If you want good news read a church newsletter.

darkyr on 2016-06-13 04:09:04
If you want gravity, move to Jupiter.

"The resounding echo of the mortal coil, echoes in the ears of those who are unprepared for it. To some, it sounds like a symphony - to others, a death toll."
George Whelton

Queethebean on 2012-08-11 19:33:01
I played the mortal coil in high school marching band.

bansaisequoia on 2012-11-02 15:25:39
I played the death toll in the jazz ensemble.

I'm sure you both slayed them.

LLapp on 2017-03-29 16:44:11
And the resounding mortal coil goes DOIIINNNGG!

Default I laughed out loud at blueladyblue's comment. A classic!

"Self-respect is a question of recognizing that anything worth having has a price."
Unattributed

montyb on 2015-06-06 11:30:44
So get the best self-respect that money can buy.

lainecap on 2015-08-20 11:01:50
and be sincere...and if you can't be sincere, fake it.

blueladyblue on 2018-03-19 09:29:25
You're right, monty. I bought some self-respect at Walmart and had to return it because it was really fragile
