i have what may be a silly suspicion. does anyone else notice, that is, are the puzzles sometimes designed...are letters that are used picked purposely to confuse or mislead the puzzle solver?

I've actually noticed sometimes a stand-alone letter will be an A or I, making the choice easier. (Unless it's an Alexander Pope quote, in which case all bets are off.) Same with the one after an apostrophe being an S or T. The awkward letters like Q, X, and Z do seem to pop up a lot, though.

Are there any quotes on site that actually use all the letters of the alphabet?
Just curious. |
