Scoring Question

Classifying by the number of of letters seems to be oversimplification. I recently did a "difficult' 'gram where the first 3 words were "it is not.." and the next word started with 'on'. With this much of a start the rest was "easy". Therefore I suppose the the letter count system is used in lieu of some sort more complicated algorithm.
