Apologies for the intermittent page-load problems of the past 24 hours. I've been working with our hosting company to resolve it, but so far with no luck. I'm upgrading the server tomorrow morning around 9am pacific time (so there will be some downtime, maybe 15 mins) in the hopes that this will improve performance.

Unfortunately the problem is not yet resolved, but I think we may finally have found the failure point (network related) and they are looking into it now. Trust me when I say no one is more frustrated at this point than I am - I've spent the past 2 days on little else but making phone calls about this issue, and it wasn't until a few hours ago that someone was finally willing to admit that there WAS a problem at all.

The planned server upgrade will still go through sometime today, but it is almost certainly not going to help - from what we're seeing, the problem is more related to network issues in Dallas and L.A. which are failing intermittently.

Long and short of it, if you're playing competitively for percentages, it is a good idea to keep abreast of your "recent games" page to see if any games only loaded partially. It would probably be even better to hold off playing competitively until the issue is fixed, though.

No measurable improvement this morning. We may have some downtime today if it comes down to moving the server physically to a new network location. I'll do what I can to give advance notice if that becomes necessary.

Testing some things, might be minor downtime. Suggest you log out and play as guest for a while if you are concerned about solving percentages.

We are migrating servers this evening, hopefully the new server will alleviate the problem we've been having.

This means that a DNS change will need to be made, and that some folks will be playing on the new server while others may still see the old server. It will take about 24 hours for everyone to get the new server. Any stats/games accrued on the old server after the migration begins will unfortunately be lost.

So that means if we played earlier today, our stats should come with us for March, including all time stats?
And the old server message will disappear to let us know?

If anyone is on the new server maybe they could leave a post to let us know if
the site is working well again?

Looks like the server migration will have to wait until tomorrow. I'll post an update when I know more.

When you no longer see (old server) at the bottom of the home page, you'll be on the new server. But right now it seems likely that won't happen until tomorrow afternoon at the earliest.

Server migration is completed, and DNS has been changed - it will take between 1 and 24 hours for everyone to eventually be routed to the new server. If you're reading this message via the web site forums (via email doesn't count), you're on the new server and should be ready to resume competitive play.

As this is an entirely new server in a new environment, unexpected bugs are possible - if you run into anything strange on the NEW server please contact me right away.

I'd like to hear from folks who are definitely on the new server to see if you are noticing any improvement in performance. So far I am unable to replicate the page load problem on the new server, but I want to make sure we have squashed the problem for good.

Well in IE8 its faster. Much faster. The chat box has entries from a day or so in it but thats expected?

I found in Firefox it was slow to load. But that could just be because I reloaded the page and didnt restart the browser.

I will check again in FF and in chrome too.

Looks ok so far.

Firefox is not recognizing my games played or allowing me to post in chat.
Not sure why.

IE8 and chrome seem ok so far Stephen.

Had to reboot Firefox, but its allowing me to post in chat and play.
Seems ok.

I can tell you its zooming in IE8. Pages are fast. Checking games, moving to chat.
My solve time is awful but there are alot of quotes I have not seen before.

Its working very well Admin. Great Job and many many thanks.

Problems ...

Page load is slow. Chat page is not loading.

I have had three puzzles that will not be checked, it just sits there.

I have to reload them.

Is there something going on? Can you check. Other players are noticing
a page load and slow down as well.

The data center we moved to earlier this week was down for about 90 minutes this morning, and it seems there may still be some latency issues remaining. I've put in a ticket to check on what's going on.

I'm hoping things are resolved at this point, network-wise. Also hoping this is just a random bit of bad luck and not a sign that our new data center is problematic. :-/

I've also done some work this evening to analyze and streamline our database a bit more, so with any luck that should kick in some speed improvements as well.

It's a constant battle. :-)

Thank you for staying on top of things. It's been a frustrating few days for all of us. I hope that is the end of the problems with the slowness and the multiple loads on the site.

Just a quick update - I've had diagnostics running on the server and network, and they seem to confirm that as of yesterday evening we're back in business. In fact, the numbers we're clocking right now are the fastest I've ever seen. Some of you might be setting some new speed records pretty soon as a result. :-)

Oh my goodness! This is wonderful! Ever since I started using Chrome this site stopped working well for me, so I eventually just gave up. But now it's working so much better! Thanks for upgrading the server!
